The Company

Bswing is a digital experience firm that helps organizations design and build products, services, and platforms grounded in human understanding. Its work spans market research, digital product development, and technology strategy for mission-driven organizations.

For this project, Bswing partnered with New Virginia Majority, a nonprofit focused on empowering marginalized communities to change political systems. Since 2015, New Virginia Majority has helped register more than 200,000 voters across Virginia.

The Challenge

Bswing needed a way to help New Virginia Majority send voter registration applications securely and efficiently to thousands of potential voters.

The voter registration process is often difficult to navigate. Many eligible voters are unclear on their rights, while others face access barriers that make registration harder than it should be. Bswing wanted a solution that could simplify the experience while staying secure and accessible at scale.

The team considered building its own PDF form-filling system, but quickly recognized that creating and maintaining that infrastructure in-house would take too much time and engineering effort. They needed a faster path to launch without compromising on usability or reliability.

The Solution

Bswing used Anvil Workflows and PDF Filling API to automate the voter registration process for New Virginia Majority.

The team was able to create a digital workflow that made it easier to collect information, populate required forms, and manage the registration process more efficiently. Instead of building a custom PDF automation system from scratch, Bswing used Anvil to move faster and focus engineering time on the broader user experience.

The result was a secure and scalable workflow that supported high-volume outreach while making the registration process more accessible for voters across Virginia.

The Result

Bswing helped New Virginia Majority streamline voter registration and support thousands of new voters in Virginia.

The new workflow reduced manual effort, improved operational efficiency, and gave the organization a more scalable way to reach and register people who may otherwise have faced barriers to participation. For Bswing, Anvil provided a faster way to deliver a secure document workflow without the overhead of building and maintaining the underlying PDF infrastructure internally.
