Draft and publish changes to Anvil Workflows

We recently released a much anticipated Anvil Workflows feature: the ability to draft and publish changes to a Workflow or PDF template. This is the first step in providing you with more control over when and how your changes become visible to the world and allowing access to Anvil’s version control capabilities. Here's everything you need to know about our newest feature:

What stays the same?

The existing version of your Workflow will continue to be live (and visible) to your users while you make edits. Users will still be able to complete an existing webform as you draft changes.

What’s new?

When making changes to an existing Workflow, those changes will autosave to the draft version (not the live one). To test your draft changes, use the “Play” button in the top right corner of the webform editor. When you’re ready to make those changes live, simply click the “Publish” button and they’ll be released all at once.

What's coming up next for Anvil?

We’re also planning some new features that build upon this current release. The features include:

  • Version control and rollback of edits - revert back to any published version of a Workflow.
  • Version audit log - keep track of all version changes to a Workflow.
